Buying a used part: what to check on the spot
Before you go
- Call and ask whether the part is still there.
- Ask for a few fresh photos from different sides.
- Agree on the price on the phone, so it doesn't change at the counter.
At the shop
- Compare the factory number with your old part.
- Look for cracks, rust and bent mounts.
- Check that all the clips and bolts are there.
- For electrical parts, ask to test it.
Paying
Pay when you have the part in your hands, not before. Ask for a receipt and how many days you have to return it if it doesn't fit.
